L. Fraenkel & Son was founded in Antwerp in 1959. Sixty years later and in its third generation of family ownership and management, L. Fraenkel & Son is still a premier diamond trader and wholesaler, advising clients worldwide.
Over the years, our family business has evolved. In the 60’s and early 70’s, we manufactured and sold rough diamonds primarily to wholesalers in Antwerp. In the 80’s and 90’s, we moved to polished diamonds. And since 2000, we’ve been selling natural diamonds directly to consumers. With no middleman, we’re able to do so at a fraction of the cost of traditional jewelry retailers.
More recently and in addition to selling natural diamonds, we’ve entered the lab-grown diamond market.
All our diamonds are GIA, HRD, or IGI certified.

We Care About Quality And Sustainability.
Laboratory-grown diamonds are, in fact, diamonds. They have the same chemical composition and are truly identical (they share the same 4 C's: color, clarity, cut and carat). The most respected diamond grading laboratories: GIA, HRD and IGI all provide diamond grading reports certifying that laboratory grown diamonds are made via the same physical processes, except in a lab as opposed to in the earth's mantle. As a result, laboratory grown diamonds are significantly cheaper than natural diamonds.
Laboratory grown diamonds should not be confused with cubic zirconia or synthetic moissanite, which only look like diamond but have very different chemical and physical properties. lab diamonds have the exact same scintillation, flash, fire, and brilliance as mined diamonds. The only significant difference between mined diamonds and man-made diamonds is the origin of the diamond. 18K gold is 75% fine gold and 25% alloys added to strengthen the metal, making it suitably durable for everyday wear. It is more affordable than platinum.
