Home / About us
It’s more than just cut, colour, clarity, and carat.
Choosing a diamond is about more than the grades on a certificate. We advise every client to find the stone that truly matches their expectations, their project and their budget.
A diamond’s visual quality depends on many factors that go well beyond the 4Cs. For an emerald cut, for example, proportions, symmetry and fluorescence can strongly influence how the stone looks. Two diamonds with very similar grades on paper can therefore look very different to the eye.
This is where our experience makes the difference: selecting stones individually and helping you choose those that offer the best balance of beauty, quality and price.
Our aim has been the same for three generations: to offer carefully selected stones, responsibly sourced and sold at fair and transparent prices.
Trustworthy assessments and appraisals.
L. Fraenkel & Son offers its clients assessments and appraisals carried out with care and independence. Our experience with diamonds, combined with professional gemmological equipment, allows us to examine and assess every stone with precision.
Three generations
in Antwerp.
L. Fraenkel & Son was founded in Antwerp in 1950. More than seventy years later, the company is still run by the family, now in its third generation, and supplies clients in Belgium and abroad.
Over the decades, our business has evolved with the diamond market.
In the 60’s and early 70’s, we were active in rough diamonds, mainly with Antwerp wholesalers. In the 80’s and 90’s, our business gradually moved towards polished diamonds.
Since 2000, we have been supplying natural diamonds directly to jewellers, goldsmiths and designers. This direct relationship allows us to offer a personalised selection, fast service and particularly competitive prices.
Alongside natural diamonds, we have built up expertise in lab‑grown diamonds, with a particular specialisation in coloured diamonds.
